Copper Angel (Medny angel) is a 1984 Soviet adventure movie by Veniamyn Dorman. The plot of the movie covers the adventures of the international geological expedition in one of the Latin American countries.
The following weapons are seen in the movie Copper Angel (Medny angel):
Colt M1911A1
Colt M1911A1 pistols are carried by many characters including Police Commissioner Santillana (Aleksandr Filippenko), gangster boss Sebastian Valdes (Nikolai Yeryomenko, Jr.) and his second-in-command Vaqueros (Aleksandr Yakovlev). They are also seen in hands of police officers and gangsters.
Walther P38
Walther P38 is used by one of the gangsters. After he was killed, his Walther was taken by Marina Gromova (Irina Shevchuk) and later it was used by Maurice Barrault (Leonid Yarmolnik).
Sten Mk II
Sten Mk II submachine guns are used by several gangsters including Sebastian Valdes (Nikolai Yeryomenko, Jr.).
M1928A1 Thompson
One of the gangsters was armed with M1928A1 Thompson.
MP40
Several gangsters were armed with MP40 SMG. One of the SMGs was later used by Professor Larsen (Leonid Kuravlyov).
Sturmgewehr 44 (modified to resemble M16)
One of the weapons used both by police and gangsters in the movie are Sturmgewehr 44 automatic rifles, visually modified with the addition of a carrying handle, a modified front sight and shorter magazines to resemble the M16 rifle.
Unidentified sniper rifle
In the final scene of the movie Commissioner Santillana (Aleksandr Filippenko) is seen with a sniper rifle. It's most likely hunting carbine Los (9х53mm) or Los-4 (7.62х51mm). Both models are based on Mosin Nagant Rifle. Los (mean "Elk") was produced in 1960s-70s and Los-4 - in 1970s-80s.
Double Barreled Shotgun
Professor Larsen (Leonid Kuravlyov) and Rosita (Liya Akhedzhakova) both used double barreled shotgun.
Trivia
- Soviet cinema factories lacked modern Western weapon so in movies where the plot take place in Western countries most weapons were of the WW2 era, either captured from the Germans or lend-leased from the UK and US. That's why Sturmgewehr 44, visually modified to resemble M16, are so widely in Soviet action movies of 1970s-80s (including Pirates of the XXth Century (Piraty XX veka), Solo Voyage, Gangsters in the Ocean (Gangstery v okeane), Mirage (Mirazh), Incident at Map Grid 36-80 (Sluchay v kvadrate 36-80) and others).
