First generation. The first American made Double Action 9mm semi-auto. Traditional double action 9mm caliber pistol. Manufactured originally with steel frame and steel slide until number 927 (1954-1966). At that point the Model 39 became the Model 39-2 and was manufactured with a steel slide and alloy frame until 1983 when production of the Model 39 ceased. .
