The following weapons appear in the video game Red Dead Redemption:
Handguns
Single Action Army
A Single Action Army is the first handgun that the player starts with and appears to take its name and likeness from an 1873 Uberti Cattleman. John Marston incorrectly manages to fire the pistol without pulling back on the hammer. It uses Revolver Ammunition.
Volcanic Repeater
The Volcanic Repeater is available at the gunsmith in Armadillo and is called the "Volcanic Pistol" in game. It behaves a lot like the Winchester, but with much less range. Uses Pistol ammunition.
Smith & Wesson No. 3 Revolver
The player is presented with a Smith & Wesson No. 3 Revolver, called the "Schofield Revolver" ingame. It's basically a direct upgrade over the Cattleman, and is almost as strong as the Volcanic. It uses Revolver Ammunition.
Borchardt C-93
The Borchardt C-93 is the first "new age" handgun avalible as the "Semi-Automatic Pistol". It holds seven shots and can be first purchased at the gunsmith in Escalera once the player gets to Mexico. Dutch van der Linde uses one in the mission "Great Men are Not Always Wise". A free one can be obtained if the player clears out the Fort Mercer bandit hideout after the mission 'We'll Be Together In Paradise'. Uses Pistol Ammunition.
Colt New Service
A Colt New Service, modeled after the Colt M1892, is named the "Double Action Revolver" in-game. It fires a .38 long round, is the fastest firing revolver in the game, and also happens to be good in the way of damage. It also reloads a little faster than the Schofield and LeMat. It becomes available after completing the Tezoro Azul hideout and uses Revolver Ammunition. There is also a gold-plated version.
LeMat Revolver
A LeMat Revolver (referred to by its real name) is available at the gunsmith's shop in Escalera after the Mexican missions. It holds 9 shots, the under barrel shotgun function is not usable, and it is incorrectly depicted as a break action like the Schofield. This was apparently an idea lifted from the TV western Johnny Ringo (http://www.johnnyringo.net/Pictures/LeMatopen91CU.jpg). However the look as depicted in-game still shows the lack of a "top strap" and still still shows the nipples used to hold percussion caps. It uses Revolver Ammunition and is one of the rare weapons.
Mauser M712 Schnellfeuer
The "Schnellfeuer" machine-pistol variant of the Mauser C96 self-loading pistol appears as a regular C96, and is called the "Mauser Pistol" in game. It holds an incorrect 15 shots (instead of 10) and is first available at the gunsmith in Blackwater. It uses Pistol Ammunition. It is one of the rare (or just really expensive) weapons. The fire-rate is multiplayer is much lower than in singleplayer, most likely for balance reasons. Highly anachronistic as the first full-auto C96 variant did not exist before the late 1920s.
FN Model 1903
Edgar Ross give John a FN Browning 1903 pistol with pearl grips in the mission "Bear One Other Man's Burdens". Called the "High Power Pistol" in-game, it is distinguishable from the Colt 1903 Hammerless by it's longer barrel and slide. It uses Pistol ammunition.
Rifles
Spencer Model 1860 Carbine
This is the rifle that the player starts with is a Spencer Model 1860 Carbine, called the "Repeating Carbine" ingame. The weapon has a somewhat slow rate of fire compared to later repeaters. It holds 7 shots and uses Repeater Ammunition. Despite the fact that the real Spencer is loaded from a tube magazine in the butt-stock, the game depicts the rifle as a seven-round repeating breech-loader.
Winchester 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine
The Winchester 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine is called the "Winchester Repeater" ingame. This is the second rifle that the player gets, it can either be purchased from the gunsmith in Armadillo or received during an early mission soon after. Holds 10 shots and is a very reliable long arm for a good portion of the game. It uses Repeater Ammunition.
1873 Trapdoor Springfield Cavalry Carbine
A 1873 Trapdoor Springfield Cavalry Carbinecan be purchased from the gunsmith in Thieves' Landing and is called the "Springfield Rifle" ingame. This The only real flaw is that expensive Rifle Ammunition is largely unavailable on enemies until late in the Mexican chapter. It unrealistically holds 4 shots instead of one and it appears that John Marston works the gun like a bolt action between shots (he flips the trapdoor up closes it then the hammer gets cocked with no animation). It uses Rifle Ammunition.
Krag-Jørgensen Rifle
The Krag-Jørgensen Rifle can first be purchased at the gunsmith in Escalera, but can be seen in the hands of Mexican soldiers long before then, and is called the "Bolt Action Rifle" in game. This weapon has a fast reload rate thanks to the stripper clips (which is impossible in real life) and is also pretty powerful. The firing speed is about the same as the Henry Repeater but the range is slightly improved. It holds 5 shots and uses Rifle Ammunition.
1860 Henry Rifle
The player can obtain a 1860 Henry Rifle, called the "Henry Repeater" ingame. This is the third repeating rifle that the player gets, it is first available in Mexico while doing a side quest, which leads into a gang hideout side mission. It holds 12 shots and has a faster firing and reload speed than the Winchester Repeater, though the stopping power is equal. Uses Repeater Ammunition.
Remington Rolling Block Sporting Rifle
A Remington Rolling Block Sporting Rifle fitted with a "Long Malcolm" scope is the player's first sniper rifle and is called the "Rolling Block Rifle" ingame. The player picks it up during a job for the Mexican military. It's single shot and uses Sniper Rifle Ammunition.
Evans Repeating Rifle
A Evans Repeating Rifle is available and is classified as a rare weapon according to Rockstar's website. It is called the "Evan's Reapeater" ingame. It is first available for purchase at the gunsmith in Blackwater and holds 22 shots rather than the real life 34 (likely for balance reasons). It has practically the same power as the Winchester and Henry but with just double the capacity and a somewhat faster reload speed. It uses Repeater Ammunition.
Carcano Rifle
The "Carcano Rifle" in-game. It is first available for purchase from the gunsmith in Blackwater. It is basically a combination of the Rolling Block Rifle and Bolt Action Rifle. It holds five shots and uses Sniper Rifle Ammunition. Interestingly, the rifle is depicted in game as having a straight bolt handle, which would make it impossible to cycle the weapon with the scope attached. The use of stripper clips would also be impossible with the scope mounted. An anachronistic feature of the Carcano's scope is it has a duplex style reticule, as most scopes produced in the day were wire cross hairs. In other words the reticule should have looked much like the Remington Rolling Block's scope reticule.
Sharps 1874 Long Range
The Sharps 1874 Long Range is called the "Buffalo Rifle" in-game. It is the most powerful rifle in the game (hence the name) and can be purchased after getting Rank 5 in the Master Hunter challenges. The weapon reloads pretty fast and only fires one shot at a time. When used from cover there is an annoying glitch where John will reload while exposed to gunfire rather than loading another shot while in cover. It uses Rifle Ammunition.
Modified Mauser T-1918 Gewehr Anti-Tank Rifle
The DLC Pack "Liars and Cheats" contains a new weapon called the Explosive Rifle, which appears to be a modified Mauser T-1918 Gewehr Anti-Tank Rifle with the metal bipod and wooden pistol grip removed, as well as having a shorter barrel. The Gun has tremendous power as it causes instant overkill upon impact.
Shotguns
Colt Model 1878 Shotgun
A Side-by-Side Shotgun Model 1878 can be bought in Armadillo Gunsmith.
Sawed Off Shotgun
A Sawed-Off Shotgun Can be bought at the Thieves' Landing Gunsmith.
Browning Auto-5
The Browning Auto-5 shotgun, called the "Semi-auto Shotgun" in-game, holds 5 rounds and can be bought from the Gunsmith at Escalera for $1000 after completing "We Shall Be Together in Paradise" and unlocking access to Mexico.
Winchester Model 1897
A Winchester Model 1897 is obtained during the mission "And the Truth Will Set You Free",used by a thug. A gold version exists in multiplayer.
Blunderbuss
A Blunderbuss is available in the DLC Undead Nightmare. This antique weapon (as Marston himself reminds) is loaded with pieces of the undead, and causes the zombies to explode.
Others
Gatling Gun
The Gatling Gun is first used in the mission "The Assault on Fort Mercer" and has unlimited ammunition.
Cannon
Found mostly in multiplayer.
Maxim 1895
Incorrectly called the "Browning Gun" in-game, the Maxim 1895 is used mounted on a prototype armored truck in the mission "And You Will Know The Truth" and damaged at the end of the mission when the armored truck tips over. Dutch van der Linde uses one at his fort in Cochinay against John Marston and the U.S. Army in the mission "And The Truth Will Set You Free".
They call it the Browning Gun because it is a 1917. If you look closely you can see it has a pistol grip and it is obviously supposed to pay homage to "The Wild Bunch"
