The Goryunov SG-43 was introduced during WWII, intended to replace the M1910 Russian Maxim as the standard medium machine gun. Like the 1910 Maxim, the Goryunov is usually seen on the 'Sokolov' wheeled-turntable mount.
The Goryunov SG-43 or one of its' variants has been seen in the following:
Film
- Seen as a tank mounted variant (SGMT) on the main T55 tank in The Beast of War
- A modernized version (SGM) mocked up from an U.S. M60 Machine gun, used by C. Thomas Howell) as Robert Morris in Red Dawn).
