The following weapons appear in the film The Park is Mine:
AKM Rifle
The AKM rifle appears throughout the film as the main weapon of Mitch (Tommy Lee Jones), which he procures from a weapons cache hidden in the park by a friend of his who commits suicide at the beginning of the film, along with detailed plans for laying siege to Central Park in order to bring attention to the humiliations and indignities suffered by Vietnam veterans and less fortunate people. During the initial siege, he uses blank ammunition in two magazines taped together 'jungle-style' with yellow tape denoting what kind of ammo is in them to scare off everyone in the park and intimidate responding police against attempting to evict him by force, but when lethal force is required to defend himself later on, he switches to live ammo in red-taped 'jungle-style' magazines.
- Trivia: Just as depicted in Die Hard 2, characters switch between blanks rounds and live rounds, which in reality would not work. Blank firing guns that 'autoload', i.e. are either semiautomatic or fully automatic, must be blank adapted in order to cycle. If a gun, like an AK (or MP5 as in the case of Die Hard 2) has been firing blanks, one cannot just switch magazines and start firing live rounds. The blank adapter (which restricts the barrel down to anywhere from 50% to 75% of the original barrel interior) would have to be removed or else the first live round would blow up the firearm.
M79 Grenade Launcher
Another weapon used by Mitch frequently throughout the film is an M79 grenade launcher. In one memorable scene, he engages a pair of N.Y.P.D. SWAT officers, intimidating them into fleeing by telling them that while the AKM was loaded with blanks, the grenade launcher had a live round loaded in it. He then uses it to destroy a police helicopter after bringing it down with AKM fire and allowing the crew and a SWAT sniper to flee from the aircraft, and again when engaging a pair of mercenaries sent in to kill him by corrupt government officials.
M16A1 Rifle
The M16A1 rifle appears in the hands of N.Y.P.D. SWAT officers responding to Mitch's seige of the park. SWAT uses them when Mitch engages them in a shootout at the edge of the park, but none of the officers can get a clear shot at him and none of their rounds hit their mark.
M16 Rifle
During the shootout at the edge of the park, one of the SWAT officers can be seen using an M16 rifle (distinguishable from the other officers' M16A1's by the lack of forward assist) fitted with a night-vision scope mounted on the carry handle, though is still unable to hit Mitch even with his weapons' superior optics.
XM177 Colt Commando
The leader of the N.Y.P.D. SWAT officers can be seen using an XM177 Colt Commando as his weapon of choice. Later on in the film, he uses his weapon to kill one of the two mercenaries sent to kill Mitch, having become sympathetic to Mitch's plight over the course of the film, then sets it aside to prove to Mitch that he's not a threat.
AK-47 Rifle
One of the two mercenaries, a former Việt Cộng named Tran Chan Dinh (Jong Soo Park), carries an AK-47 as his weapon of choice, distinguishable from Mitch's AKM by the absence of the distinctive muzzle brake.
- It's another Chinese Norinco Type 56.
M18A1 Claymore
When the two mercenaries are sent into the park to kill Mitch, they go about sabotaging and reverse-engineering the various boobytraps he had set throughout the park, as well as planting an M18A1 Claymore mine. A local TV news reporter named Valery (Helen Shaver) who had befriended Mitch after sneaking in to get a better story on the seige nearly triggers it, but is stopped at the last moment by Mitch, who disarms it by disabling the tripwire.
MG42 Machine Gun
When loading up for the final showdown with the mercenaries sent to kill him, Mitch arms himself with an MG42 machine gun, using it to kill the mercenaries. He then holds it on the SWAT commander after he kills the last mercenary, prompting the officer to discard his weapon and unfasten his body armor to prove he means no harm.
