Hello all peoples of this world!!! I am PhantomTrain (not my real name). I like weapons. I will be updating this website occasionally, but I'm a busy person so don't expect a lot. Feel free to say anything you want about me on a talk page, it is up and ready. I hope you enjoy my presence in the IMFDB community.
PhantomTrain Bio
Who I Am
As I said above, I go by the alias PhantomTrain. Theres a story behind that but I'll get into that later. Right now all you need to know is that I am a user of IMFDB. I live in a small town in the Midwest region of the United States of America. There are millions of people in that region, so I could be any one of them. You may know me, you may not. But I can narrow that search down juuuust a little: I have a computer and an interest in weapons. Thank you doctor obvious. The main reason I'm being so generic in my description of myself is because I think its kinda funny, and also because I am slightly paranoid. This will all be explained eventually but no time soon. Personalitywise the best way to describe me is strange. I have a weird sense of humor that really comes out when you get to know me well. I can be very mature and even sweet when I want to be, but usually people describe me as sarcastic. My favorite TV show is The X-Files, and I collect the seasons of that awesome show on DVD. I love banana clips, for several reasons: They hold more bullets, they look cool on a weapon, and also because I just love bananas.
The Story of PhantomTrain
Near the town where I live there is a railroad tracks. It is located north of the house I live in. It has been out of service for several years, even before I moved to said town. But sometimes, at the randomest moments possible, I will here a train whistle from the north. The closest functional railroad line is to the south of my house, so it can't be that one obviously. The only explanation we can think of is a PhantomTrain. Someday I will find the truth because The Truth is Out There.
Personal Weapon Preferences
These are weapons that I think are cool and possibly want to own someday. Please note that this is subject to change.
My Brief Weapon History
I havent handled a lot of weapons myself, although I hope to use a lot more in the future. Weapons are a favorite thing of mine. Someday I may join a branch of the Military and get more experience there, but I know enough to use weapons. The weapons I have used include a Russian Mosin-Nagant rifle, a Remington .380 Scoped rifle, a semiauto only AK-47 rifle, and several .22 rifles of various make and model.
My View On Some Assault Rifles
I always thought the M16 was a slick weapon. As you probably guessed, I have never fired one myself, but my dad used to tell me stories about his Marine days which included details of M16s. But since I havent shot one myself, I'll shut up about them now.
AK-47s are okay weapons, but not great in my opinion. (There are probably a million people who instantly hate me now.) They are reliable, no doubt, but they still aren't perfect. For one thing, they fire the 7.62x39mm cartridge. I am a 5.56 fan all the way. The 5.56 bullet is superior in my opinion, since it usually has a greater range, tumbles when it hits flesh and creates a massive flesh wound, and is generally more common and easier to find. Also, AKs have a tendancy to get really hot quickly. I shot a semiauto version and held on to only the wooden part, and still it burned my hand. And finally, I am an American, and waaaay to many of our enemies in combat (Vietnamese, Somalians, and the Taliban, to name a few) use AK-style weapons for me to want one of my own. Its caused to many American deaths. I have nothing against these people at all, its just some psychological quirk I have.
Handguns
I am slightly embarassed to say this: I haven't actually shot a handgun myself before. Many rifles, but no pistols. I've pretty much figured out how to operate them from watching my neibor shoot a Ruger, but I dont have personal experience. Nontheless, I do have some preferences when it comes to them. I would prefer a .45 pistol, just because I would. I cant really explain it. Ideally, it would be a Ruger KP90 or a Taurus PT945. They just look cool. Dont judge.
If I had to choose from 9x19mm handguns, my choice would definitely be a SIG-Sauer P250 Compact. It looked so awesome in Knight and Day, which is one of my favorite movies!!!
And of course there is the Revlolver section. Revolvers never looked as cool to me as a semi-automatic, but there are definitely some that are cool. The primary revolvers that interest me are the Taurus Judge .45LC revolver, because it looks sorta cool, has a really large caliber and, of course, because it was also in Knight and Day. The other revolver I am considering at this point is the Colt Python, which is a .357 revolver, as Im sure most of you know. Hey, Revolvers are suppossed to be POWERFUL. .22 revolvers are fails. A revolver, in my opinion, should pack a major punch. Thumbs up from all who agree!!!
Rifles
Now for a section on rifles. These are the main kinds of weapons I have fired, most of which are bolt-actions. So here goes.
I have always thought a Mauser Karabiner 98k was an awesome weapon. I just know that Im gonna get about 500 more dislikes for that, but oh well. Its a slick rifle, and one that I want to own someday. Hopefully in Sniper configuration because scopes help. And all of you that don't like it, thats just too damn bad.
Another German-manufactured weapon that I want to own someday is the Heckler & Koch G3A3. I for one am a fan of fixed-stock weapons, which is why I chose the A3 varient. Of course, the one I get would no doubt be in Semi-automatic only, but still. Its cool, and don't you dare disagree.
A battle rifle that I would consider as an alternative to my G3A3 is the SIG SG 550 rifle. You almost never see these in movies anywhere, which I don't get why. It may not be a SCAR or AK, but its damn good anyways. Again, the one I would get would probably have to be Semi-auto only.
The last assault/battle rifle I will be going over is a classic Colt CAR-15, which as I am sure most of you know is the commercial version of the orriginal Colt Commando. This is a weapon in the M16 family, and as I said previously the M16 is a sic weapon, if you ask me. And a carbine is always fun, because theres just something about its compactness that speaks to me. You know, a deadly weapon in a small frame. Poetically awesome.
Other rifles that I would like to own are various forms of bolt-action sporting rifles, preferably in .223 or .30-06.
Shotguns
A shotgun is a powerful weapon to weild, and one isnt a true gun fan until they at least have a shotgun in mind. A shotgun, if you ask me, should appear to be classic. Antique. But still able to pack a major punch. Nothing says business like the barell of a 12-gauge. So here we go.
First on our shotgun list is a classic double-barell shotgun. Most double-barells look the same to me, so I just took the picture of a Remingon SPR210 off the 12 Gauge Double Barelled Shotgun page of this website. A double-barell just seems like itd be a good hunting gun, so I will get one if I can.
Another kind of shotgun I would like to own is a good 'ol Winchester 1300 pump-action in 12 Gauge. As I said above, a double-barell is a great hunting weapon. But a pump-action is the big boy's toys. And a Win1300 (my abreviation) is a very classic looking gun. As I said before, a shotgun should be classic.
Now you'll have to forgive me as I contradict myself breifly. I know I said that a shotgun should appear classic, but there are exceptions to every rule. The exception to this one is the Benelli Nova. It doesnt look anything like the other shotguns I've been showcassing in my wish list, but that may be a good thing. Consider it an alternate.
Finally, we arrive at the most ultimate shotgun in my opinion. Saving the best for last, eh? Dadadada... the amazing Remington 870 Police Magnum w/ Folding Stock. Its quite a mouthfull and also sweet. It combines the classic look of most pump-action shotguns with more modern elements of warfare, making it pretty damn epic. Im sure Ive made some friends right there.
Pages That I Have Worked On
Just had to take the time to brag about what I have done for IMFDB. Always remember: Ask not what IMFDB can do for you, ask what YOU can do for IMFDB! The list will grow as I do more and more.
