The Aviator is a 1985 historical drama starring Christopher Reeve as a pilot for the US Air Mail Service who finds himself stranded with a wealthy rebellious woman (Rosanna Arquette) after his plane crashes. The film was directed by George Miller (the Australian director of The Man from Snowy River, and not the Australian director of Mad Max fame). Also, the film is not to be with the Martin Scorsese's 2004 Howard Hughes biopic of the same name.
