The Pelican Brief is the 1993 thriller based on the John Grisham bestseller and starring Julia Roberts as Darby Shaw, a young law student whose brief speculating on who was behind the assassination of two Supreme Court Justices puts her life in danger. Denzel Washington plays Gray Grantham, a Washington reporter who work with Darby to expose the conspiracy. The film was directed by Alan J. Pakula, who also directed All the President's Men and The Devil's Own.
