Image:WalkingDead.jpg The Walking Dead is a television series airing on AMC that chronicles the actions of County Sheriff's Deputy Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) as he leads a band of survivors after a pandemic has turned the population into zombies. The series was adapted for television by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption) from the Image comic book series.
Handguns
Colt Python
Sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) carries a six-inch barreled Colt Python .357 Magnum revolver as his duty sidearm in the series. Of note is that when Grimes fires the gun in a very tight, enclosed space (in this case, inside a tank), it actually severely disorients him and hurts his hearing, unlike most movies or shows that have people firing guns indoors or in other enclosed spaces without being phased.
Glock 17
A Glock 17 was one of the sidearms of the police in the first episode. One of the deputies was told to have a round chambered and also (incorrectly) to make sure the safety was off.
SIG-Sauer P228
One of the suspects from the police chase at the beginning of the first episode uses what appears to be a two-tone SIG-Sauer P228.
Browning Hi-Power
Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) uses a silver chrome Browning Hi-Power pistol in the series.
Beretta 92FS
Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) takes a Beretta 92FS (standing in for a U.S. Military-issue M9) from a dead soldier inside an Abrams tank.
Unidentified Snub-Nose Revolver
A stainless snub-nose revolver of unknown make/model is used by Morgan in the pilot episode. It has a 5-shot cylinder but is not of the S&W J-frame series. Most likely choices at present are a Taurus revolver (a stainless Taurus Model 85 or Model 617) or possibly even a Ruger SP101. More in the Discussion page.
Shotguns
Mossberg 500
Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) can also be seen using a 12 Gauge Mossberg 500 in the series.
Mossberg 590 Compact Cruiser
One of the suspects that emerge from the wrecked car following a police chase at the beginning of the pilot episode uses a Mossberg 590 Compact Cruiser with door-breaching muzzle-brake.
Mossberg 590
A full-size Mossberg 590 is the primary weapon of Shane, Rick's partner. It is fitted with an extended magazine tube, heat-shield, collapsible M4/CAR-15 style stock and pistol grip.
Remington 870 Wingmaster
A Remington 870 Wingmaster shotgun is briefly seen.
Remington 11-87
Rifles
Unknown Scoped Bolt-Action
A currently unidentified bolt-action rifle with a scope is seen in a promotional image with a character named Dale (Jeffrey DeMunn).
Remington 700 BDL
A scoped Remington 700 BDL is given to Morgan by Rick Grimes.
Machine Guns
Browning M2HB
A Browning M2HB is seen mounted atop the Abrams MBT Rick takes refuge in. In a continuity error, it was seen still loaded but in the next scene, it was missing the ammo.
