Beretta 92FS

The Beretta 92FS appears several times in the movie. During the scene in Libya, one of the IRA terrorists is seen firing one, and then Annette (Polly Walker) comes over and tells him to spread his feet further while he shoots. Another is wielded by one of the DSS Agents who goes into the basement in the climax. Annette is seen using one when Dr. Ryan takes her Uzi. Promotional material for the film (including as the above poster) shows Dr. Ryan brandishing a Beretta 92FS, but he never uses one on screen.

Model 1934 or 1935 Beretta

Geoffrey Watkins (Hugh Fraser) uses a suppressed Model 1934 or 1935 Beretta to kill one of the DSS Guards at Dr. Ryan's home during his daughter's homecoming celebration, Ryan later takes the pistol and shoots Watkins in the leg with it to try and get him to talk, and then gives it to Lt. Commander Robby Jackson (Samuel L. Jackson), who uses it during the fight in Dr. Ryan's home. The pistol is a Model 1934 or 1935 Beretta (Italian Navy and other European military groups used them, cals .380ACP/9mm Corto and 7.65mm). The 'Cheetah' moniker is applied only to more recent commercial Beretta firearms, such as the 80-series (84,85,86, etc.).

Rifles & Carbines

L85A1 Rifle

In the beginning of the film, the British Army guards at Buckingham Palace can be seen with their L85A1 service rifles fitted with bayonets and protective vinyl coverings over the SUSAT scopes and handguards (customary for Royal guards). During the scene in Belfast, members of the Parachute Regiment can also be seen wielding L85A1s.

AKM/AKMS

The favorite weapon of the Provisional Irish Republican Army throughout the film are AKM and AKMS assault rifles. One of the terrorists is seen using an AKMS during the attempted kidnapping earlier in the film, and more AKMS rifles are used by the group that frees Sean Miller from captivity. In another scene, many Provos are seen firing AKM (fixed stock) rifles while training at a terrorist camp in Libya. Later, Dennis Cooley (Alex Norton) is killed with one of these weapons by Sean Miller after he is unable to fire it, demonstrating his incompetence.

Submachine Guns

Uzi

The PIRA terrorists also favor IMI Uzi submachine guns throughout the film. Sean Miller uses one to shoot at Jack Ryan's wife Cathy (Anne Archer) and daughter Sally (Thora Birch) during the attempted freeway killing. Miller can also be seen practicing with an Uzi in Libya. Later, all of the terrorists who attempt to kill Ryan in his house and capture Lord Holmes are seen using Uzis. Ryan commandeers Annette's Uzi and uses it during the fight in his home.

Heckler & Koch MP5A2

When Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) officers make their raid on an IRA bomb factory in Belfast, some of them can be seen carrying Heckler & Koch MP5A2 sub-machine guns. Theirs have "slimline" forearms and the old-style "waffle"-type straight magazines. DSS Agents outside Dr. Ryan's house and a Hostage Rescue Team responding to the IRA attack on Dr. Ryan's home can also be seen with MP5A2s, although theirs appear to have the wide-type forearms and curved magazines.
