Colt M1911A1
Most widely-used and widely-seen gun in the movie, by almost all major characters, notably John Dillinger (Warren Oates), Pretty Boy Floyd (Steve Kanaly), Homer Van Meter (Harry Dean Stanton), and FBI agent Melvin Purvis (Ben Johnson). Purvis's Colt is a silver finish, in contrast to the Colts used by the bank robbers. (Like most movies depicting Colt 1911s of this era, the firing models were probably a Star 9mm, to be more compatible with blanks).
Browning Automatic Rifle
The bank robbers use these in some of the film's major shootouts, best seen after the Mason City bank robbery and during the Little Bohemia shootout.
Thompson M1928 SMG
Ubiquitous gangster film firearm seen used by both the bank robbers and the G-men. It seems to be the favorite weapon of Baby Face Nelson (Richard Dreyfuss). Both the box and drum magazines are used, although more Thompsons with the smaller-capacity box magazine are seen.
Winchester pump-action shotgun
Another oft-seen gun, used during bank robberies and taken by Dillinger from a prison guard.
unknown revolvers
Homer Van Meter uses this revolver in a scene. Possibly a Colt New Service.
Charley Makley (John Ryan) holds a revolver.
Dillinger dual-wields two large white-handled revolvers during the Little Bohemia shootout.
A farmer/American Legionnaire holds this gun to Van Meter's head.
unknown double-barrel shotgun
Several vigilantes use double-barreled shotguns to try an apprehend the gang. Homer Van Meter is shot and heavily wounded by a "goddamn farmer" with a shotgun.
"wooden gun"
Dillinger's infamous wooden gun is seen being painted while in his jail cell, later using it to take a shotgun from the guard.
