The Killing Fields is a 1984 drama directed by Roland Joffe and starring Sam Waterston as Sydney Schanberg who along with his fellow journalist Dith Pran (Haing S. Ngor) are witnesses to the rise of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia in the 1970s.

Many of the Khmer Rouge soldiers are seen using AK-47s.
