The following firearms were seen in the Anime Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (translated as "When the Cicadas Cry" and released in the U.S. as "When They Cry") is an anime adaptation of a series of sound novels released by 07th Expansion. The majority of the story takes place in June of 1983 in the rural Japanese village of Hinamizawa. Most of the story arcs shown in the anime are in fact alternate versions of the same events, with the arcs starting out in a similar fashion but ending in drastically different yet equally gruesome ways.
The anime consists of three separate installments: Two television series ("Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" and "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai"), and a five episode OVA ("Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei"). All three are included in this article.
Note: Due to the nature of the series, this article may contain some spoilers.

Smith & Wesson 39
The Yamainu soldiers' standard sidearms are Smith & Wesson 39 pistols. Occasionally these weapons are seen outfitted with sound suppressors, making them Mk.22 "Hush Puppy"s. One S&W 39 is given to Takano by the leader of the Yamainu.

Trivia: In the novel and videogame version of Higurashi, Takano Uses a Mauser C96 M712 variant.

Used by Mion at a shooting gallery booth at the Cotton Drifting Festival.
Airsoft Gun
Mion (and occasionally her twin, Shion) is often seen with a generic airsoft pistol in a shoulder holster. She never draws it in the anime, thus making it impossible to determine what gun it is modeled after. It's only real purpose is to help solidify her "tomboy" image.
Water Gun
water guns are used for fun
