Gettysburg is the 1993 war film that depicts the events surrounding the pivotal battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War. Several characters from this film would return in the 2003 prequel, Gods and Generals.
The following guns were used in the film Gettysburg:
Springfield 1861
Both the Union and Confederate soldiers use Springfield percussion rifles throughout the film.
1853 Enfield (Scoped)
A Confederate sniper uses a scoped 1853 Enfield to kill Union General Reynolds during the battle. The British made 1853 Enfield was one of the most common rifles issued during the American Civil War.
Spencer carbine
The Union cavalry uses Spencer carbines along with their Springfields. Other than that, the Spencers are never seen in the movie again.
Colt 1860 Army
All of the Union officers use Colt 1860 Army's. Joshua Chamberlain (Jeff Daniels) and Thomas Chamberlain (C. Thomas Howell) use Colt 1860s most notably at the Battle of Little Round Top. Joshua is seen reloading his Colt while waiting for the Confederates to charge again. Several other Union officers are seen using Colt 1860 Army's.
