A Walk in the Sun is a 1945 movie about a platoon that lands in Italy in 1943, commanded by U.S. Army Sergeant Bill Tyne (Dana Andrews) the platoon then makes its way inland to attempt to take a fortified farmhouse, as tension and casualties mount. All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) director Lewis Milestone achieves a gritty realism that is ultimately closer to the truth of combat.
