Victor Aruz (Benito Martinez) uses a Heckler & Koch USP Compact as his sidearm, then is later used by Jack when he and Victor are hunted by assassins in episode 1 until he discarded it when Jack runs out of ammo. In Epidsode 6 Jack takes one out of a box and uses it during the meeting with Vladimir's men to subdue Lago (Tony Curran). In episode 7 he uses a USP Compact taken from Lago (Tony Curran) to kill Vladimir's remaining henchmen, he later gives it to Renee Walker for her own protection. In episode 14 "5:00 A.M. - 6:00 A.M." Jack uses his USP Compact to take a number of Black-Ops soldiers when they attempt to kidnap President Hassan. In episode 16 "7:00 A.M. - 8:00 A.M." Springfield M-1A

Russian assassin Pavel Tokarev(Joel Bissonnette) uses a customized Springfield M1-A with a scope and a suppressor during an assassination attempt towards the end of episode 17 "8:00 AM - 9:00 AM." In episode 21 "12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M." Pavel again uses this same rifle to try and kill Jack and Meredith Reed until Jack's friend Jim Ricker stops and detains him. Later in that same episode Jack examines Pavel's rifle and realizes that this is the same man and sniper rifle from three hours prior. Jack calls it a Springfield M-1A Rifle firing the .308Win round, implying that Tokarev's M14 started life as a plain M1A before being customized specifically for his own needs.

It's strange that the Russians are using an actual Russian Spec-Ops team for the missions in NYC. During the Cold War the US and the Soviet Union had back-channel agreements that neither side would send agents to kill citizens of the other's country inside that country because they did not want to have a war going on behind the scenes with politicians and intelligence officers dying all over the place. I would imagine that the same thing would apply nowadays as well. I do realize that this is just a TV show, but actually the whole Russian financing of the IRK splinter cell agents to kidnap and murder President Hassan actually makes some sense in this case. It's just kind of weird, that's all. -guest
