Superman: The Movie is the 1978 movie adaptation of the Superman comic book. The film was directed by Richard Donner (Lethal Weapon) and starred Marlon Brando as Superman's father Jor-El, Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor and Christopher Reeve as Superman. An extended version of the film was released on DVD in 2001. The film would spawn 3 sequels: Superman II, Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.
