Several members of the SDU sniper team are armed with [[Heckler & Koch G3#H&K G3SG/1|G3SG/1]] rifles. Note that theis is just a standard H&K G3 that's made to look like a G3SG/1 rifle. Although it's fitted with an SG/1 stock, it lacks the set trigger that's characteristic of factory SG/1 rifles.
The Sniper is a 2009 Hong Kong action thriller film directed by Dante Lam and starring Richie Ren, Edison Chen and Huang Xiaoming, as top snipers for the Hong Kong Police Force. The film was originally set to be released in May 2008, but was delayed due to the Edison Chen photo scandal. The following images are from the commercially available Hong Kong Released DVD.
The following lists the handguns used by the Hong Kong Police, Hong Kong SDU, and the Triads (not too sure what affiliation the bad guys are).
Smith & Wesson Model 10
OJ (Edison Chen) and his inexperienced rookie partner both use Smith & Wesson Model 10 revolvers in the introduction. Hartman Fong (Richie Ren) and officers of the Police Tactical Unit (PTU) also use Model 10s during a scene where triad members attack a prisoner convoy.
A SIG-Sauer P228 is seen in the hands of Hartman Fong (Richie Ren) during the opening stakeout scene. He uses it to save OJ when OJ had trouble trying to deal with several machete wielding triads.
A Walther P99 is carried by Er Ge (Big Head)(Kai Chi Liu) during the elevator scene, later drops it when shot in the arm by OJ. Hartman also manages to obtain one during the elevator scene.
Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine guns are used by the HKPD Special Duties Unit (SDU) throughout the movie. It is also used by one of the PTU officers guarding a prison convoy and by another officer during a shootout at Ching's apartment.
The Heckler & Koch PSG-1 sniper rifle is prominently used by OJ throughout much of the film, and by Ching in flashback sequences. The rifle itself is a fake that was created by combining a long barrel with a PSG-1 forearm, buttstock and pistol grip on a HK91/G3 body, similar to the H&K SR9 rifles seen in Hollywood productions.
A Remington 700 rifle is used by Shane (Bowie Lam), one of Fong's fellow SDU snipers. The rifle uses an AICS stock, giving it the appearance of an Accuracy International rifle such as the AWP.

AR15 rifles, built up to resemble the SR-25 but distinguished by their 5.56 magazines and forward assists, are used by Fong and OJ, notably during a scene where OJ attempts to replicate Ching's shots and during the finale.
