Hand Guns
Silver Ghost
Leon Kennedy's standard weapon, the Silver Ghost[1] is often mistaken for an Heckler & Koch USP. However, Ryoumura Jyoshin (the weapon designer for the Devil May Cry, Biohazard and Dino Crisis series) claims that he designed the weapon himself with no individual base model.
Anatomically, the Silver Ghost bears a very close resemblance to the Smith & Wesson Sigma, especially in the slide, magazine, and lower frame. In the game the gun has brown checked grips and a stainless steel slide. The weapon however is shown with a hammer as opposed to a striker. It also features an extended barrel, threaded for sound suppressor which is not a feature on the S&W Sigma pistols but are featured in the H&K USP.
Albert Wesker uses this weapon in the Mercenaries Mini game, albeit equipped with a detachable suppressor.
Punisher (FN Five-seveN)
Based off of Fabrique Nationale's Five-seveN handgun which normally chambers the 5.7mm cartridge originally intended to pierce low-levels of body armor. The version seen in-game chambers regular 9mm Parabellum. In game, the weapon has the ability to pierce shields and multiple enemies. It has a modified trigger.
This weapon can be purchased from the Merchant, or won in a contest after shooting ten of fifteen blue medallions scattered across two areas. If all targets have been shot, the Punisher will have a free upgrade added onto it, making it slightly more powerful than the standard Handgun.
The gun is used by Ada in Assignment Ada and The Mercenaries, and by Leon in the main game.
Red 9 (Mauser C96 Red 9)
A 9mm version of the Mauser C96 handgun, one of the first automatic handguns to enter production in the world. The Red9 version was developed during World War I and chambered 9mm Parabellum to keep ammo supplies standard, but when soldiers began to load the weapon with the wrong type of ammunition, a large Red 9 was placed on the grip to differentiate the model from the standard Mauser.
This weapon can be purchased from the Merchant, along with a stock which improves its accuracy significantly.
Vagrant Spaniard Luis Sera uses this as his sidearm in the main game.
Blacktail (Springfield Armory XD-9)
It has a better handling than the standard handgun. Purchased from the Merchant. Ada uses this as her sidearm in the main game and Seperate ways. Leon uses it in The Mercenaries. Though based off the Springfield XD, it also borrows from the FN FP9.
Matilda (HK VP-70)
Unlocked to be purchased from the Merchant after successfully completing the Normal difficulty of the game. It has a stock, although, unlike other guns in the game the stock cannot be removed. Same gun Leon has in Resident Evil 2. Fires three-round bursts. The gun's name is a reference to the movie Leon The Professional, though they have spelled Mathilda's name incorrectly.
Bonus
The ammo box for pistol ammunition.
Magnums
Broken Butterfly
Notice the revolver is a top-break revolver, there are few revolvers it could be, one user stated that it was an Colt Single Action Army combined with a Smith & Wesson Schofield. May be found in a section of the castle after freeing Ashley, or may be purchased from the Merchant.
The barrel's frame resembles Model 3, while the body frame is nearly identical to Colt S.A.A. It uses the same ammunition as Killer7 despite the modern .45 ACP is not fully interchangeable with some early .45 versions, especially between Revolvers and Pistols.
Note: There is also a variant appear in another Capcom's historic Beat-em Up video game Devil Kings (used by Lady Butterfly).
Killer7 (AMT Hardballer Longslide)
May be purchased from the Merchant, the only weapon that has no exclusive ability when fully upgraded. The ingame version is equipped with a scope-style laser. The name of the weapon is a reference to the game Killer7, in which the character Kaede uses a similarly modified Hardballer. The design of the gun is a Terminator homage.
Bonus
The .45 Magnum ammo box.
Handcannon (S&W Model 500)
Get a five-star rank with all characters on all stages (Mercenary Mode). When fully upgraded has infinite ammunition and deals the highest damage of any non-explosive weapon in the game. The in-game weapon is equipped with a laser sight.
Bonus
The box of Handcannon ammo. Half. Caliber. Nice.
Sub Machine Guns
TMP (Steyr TMP)
May be purchased from the Merchant. A stock may also be purchased to improve accuracy and reduce recoil. HUNK uses a TMP modified with a fixed stock, foregrip, sawn off barrel, and laser sight in The Mercenaries. Krauser also uses this same modified TMP in his boss battle in the main game. Ada also uses it in Mercenaries and regular game.
(Brügger & Thomet MP9)
In The Mercenaries minigame, HUNK carries a customized TMP as his weapon. It has several upgrades and looks slightly different from the standard TMP, as well as being already equipped with a folding stock.
Bonus
The box of TMP ammo.
Chicago Typewriter (M1A1 Thompson)
Unlocked by completing the sidestory assignment Ada and may be purchased from the Merchant for 1 million pesetas after that. Comes with unlimited ammo. If used with the Mafia costume (unique to the PS2 and Wii versions of the game), the gun will appear as the M1921 Thompson.
Shotguns
Shotgun (Remington 870)
May be obtained in one of three ways. On Easy mode the weapon is in your inventory, on Normal modes or higher you may obtain it for free in the upstairs section of a house in the Ganados Village, or you may purchase this weapon from the Merchant.
- Actually this is particularly a Remington 870 Express Turkey Pump 21" Barrel.
Riot Shotgun (Benelli M3 Super 90)
A stainless shotgun that bears great resemblance of both Benelli M3 and M4 with the collapsible stock and pump action mechanism. It is identically the same version of Assault Shotgun from Resident Evil Remake (2002). Many fans mistakenly claim this one M4, however the real M4 is semi-auto only while M3 has both action types. The in-game version is actually a modified M3, because many of Benelli M1, M3 and M4 stocks are interchangeable, although no such weapon confirmed nor seen in the real world.
The weapon may be purchased from the Merchant from Chapter 3-1. It is also used by Leon in the Mercenaries.
