As in [[Call_of_Duty_4:_Modern_Warfare|Call of Duty 4, Modern Warfare]], when the M16 is mounted with optics, the front sight and the gas block are removed. This would render the gun unable to fire automatically after the first shot. The shooter would have to manually load a round into the chamber by racking the bolt. This would effectively make the gun a bolt action.

The following weapons are used in the video game Modern Warfare 2, also known as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2:

Modern Warfare 2 (2009)

Handguns

Heckler & Koch USP45

The Heckler & Koch USP45 has been seen in single and multiplayer, with unidentified Laser Aiming Module and suppressor. One of the main sidearms of the Russian forces.

Beretta 92SB

As in Modern Warfare 1 (Call of Duty 4), appears as the military issue M9. Seen in the Special Ops mode gameplay footage. Main sidearm of all US troops in singleplayer.

Springfield Armory Professional 1911

It is the same pistol given to Soap by Captain Price in the 1st game. One of the only guns not usable in-game. Only usable in museum bonus level.

IMI Desert Eagle

Faust carries a Desert Eagle with a laser aiming module attached it. Equipped with incorrect 3-dot sights. An error in modeling, the XIX features only two rail cuts on its slide, while the model in-game features many, similar to a Picatinny rail. Main sidearm of the Brazilian militia. Surprisingly, quite a few Americans, most notably Cpl. Dunn, use this gun as their preferred sidearm. Dual wield available.

Colt Anaconda .44

Seen in MP gameplay footage. Used by General Shepard in the Campaign in a couple of significant instances in the story. In one scene, he pulls back the hammer, and then the cylinder incorrectly rotates again when he pulls the trigger. Earlier in the story, we see that the pistol is holstered, yet he pulls the same model of pistol out to shoot someone, as though he has another big Anaconda tucked in the back of his pants.

Machine Pistols

Beretta 93R

A confirmed weapon classified under the Machine Pistol slot as the M93 Raffica, it's attached with a skeletal stock and what looks like an attachment rail for a flashlight/LAM. In game model has extended mag but still only holds 15 rounds, MP model holds 20 rounds though.

Glock 17 Converted

The Glock 17 appears in the game in a full auto configuration, with a 33 round magazine. Although it is called a G18, alluding to the Glock 18 Select fire handgun manufactured by the same company, it has no selector switch, and the frame is olive-drab, which was only featured on their semi-automatic designs.

Brügger And Thomet MP9

This Swiss-made Steyr TMP variant with the scope rail and folding stock was seen in the Special Ops Gameplay footage. Often seen in singleplayer used by various militia forces, and often dual-wielded (with a fairly realistic drop in accuracy, especially since you lose your ghost-ring ironsights).

Sub-machine Guns

Heckler & Koch MP5K

The MP5K with custom Rail Interface System appears in the game. Comes with a foregrip in multiplayer, but in singleplayer this is absent. Just about everybody uses this, usually with a Red Dot Sight.

TDI Vector

The May 24th trailer shows a brief scene of the TDI Vector being used with it's experimental 26 round magazine and possible Eotech Holographic sight. Used by Russians, and occasionally the task force, in singleplayer. Brazilians rarely ever use this. Usually has a reflex sight, and in some levels has a suppressor.

Assault Rifles

IMI Tavor TAR-21

The IMI Tavor TAR-21 weapon pick-up icon is seen in the new capture the flag video, seen loaded with Full Metal Jacket rounds, and is also seen in the create a class video. It is used by Russian soldiers, and almost always has some kind of optical sight or scope, including the standard MARS sight. (As a result, after the EMP 3/4 of them become junk, though ACOG scopes are still usable)

  • A note of interest: While you can only fire this weapon in full-auto, the selector switch is modeled on semi-auto.

M16A4

Seen in the "Infamy" trailer. Correctly depicted as the standard weapon of the U.S. Army Rangers. Like the M4A1, many of these have M203 grenade launchers. Mostly seen used by the Rangers in the Washington DC missions.

Like Call of Duty 4, Modern Warfare, when the M16 is mounted with optics, the front sight and the gas block are removed. This would render the gun unable to fire automatically after the first shot. The shooter would have to manually load a round into the chamber by racking the bolt. This would effectively make the gun a bolt action.

AK-47

The AK-47 variant of the Tapco Intrafuse and T6 furniture sets and a Vltor Modstock and Stock Adapter. Standard rifle of pretty much every foreign military you fight. Most are seen with arctic or desert furniture, although some AK's in the level Loose Ends will have several in digital and woodland furniture.

Remington ACR

It is chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO and equipped with a silencer, reflex sight, heartbeat monitor, and a 30 round magazine in the "Cliffhanger" mission. In the Rio mission it's seen with a 40mm M203 Grenade Launcher. Referred as the ACR, it is formerly known as the Magpul's Masada.

FN FAL

FN FAL rifle appears in game trailers with an extended 30 round magazine and custom Rail Interface System (similar to R.I.S. on DSArms SA58 OSW). Used almost as often as the AK47. Usually equipped with either an M870 Masterkey or an ACOG scope. Does the "speed reload" technique when reloading.

FN SCAR-H CQC

Seen in game trailers and magazines. One of the primary rifles of Task Force 141, some U.S. Army Rangers and Shadow Company soldiers. Note that it's an old 2nd generation model used ingame, with the straight cheek rest on the stock. In the game the weapon incorrectly has a thirty round magazine instead of a twenty round. It also has a chopped down rear sight.

Sniper Rifles

M14 EBR

This firearm is an M14 featuring a SAGE EBR stock, Harris Bi-pod, and vertical front grip, however, it is fitted with a Magpul CTR stock instead of the standard telescoping SAGE stock. This seems to be the weapon of choice for Captain MacTavish, and is very rarely found in singleplayer without a scope attached. It is the last sniper rifle to be unlocked in multiplayer. Also noted is that it is labeled incorrectly as the "M21EBR", when it should only be the "M14EBR".

Used by some Brazilians. Judging by how much damage it does, especially at range, it's most likely chambered in 10-guage. The weapon has a shortened barrel, no stock, and an enlarged lever loop. When akimbo, the weapons are flip-cocked as in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

AT4

The M136 AT4 unguided rocket launcher has been seen in a official multi-player video and some other confirmed videos as well. In one multi-player video it appears they named the launcher a "AT4-HS". "HS" most likely is abbreviated for "Heat-Seeking" and is also how it was able to guide it's way to a moving aircraft but can still be counter measured by flares.

FGM-148 Javelin

A Javelin Launcher seems to be another available launcher for use in Multiplayer. While the multiplayer version has limited ammo, the singleplayer version has infinite ammo. Unlike the real thing (and the MW1 version) the Javelin is able to lock on to helicopters.

I believe the Javelin has a direct fire mode that can be used to engage low flying helicopters (same fire mode was used in War of the Worlds and Cloverfield). However, in the game, the player still use top attack mode on the Mi-28s, which is not the proper way to use Javelins to engage helicopters.--Wildcards 19:16, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Knight's Armament Masterkey

The 'Masterkey' shotgun is frequently seen mounted to rifles as an underslung shotgun like the M203. It is mostly attached to the FN FAL or SCAR-H assault rifles, but is sometimes seen on other weapons. Carries 7 shells in single player (most likely impossible to hold in such a small weapon), or 4 shells in multiplayer in the tubular magazine, and is unlocked for assault rifles after 20 M203 kills in multiplayer.

Mounted

GE M134 Minigun

GE M134 Minigun's are mounted on Humvees and is used by the player. In the "Wolverines!" level and in multiplayer, it is the platform for the M5 sentry gun auto-turret. Several dismantled ones can be found in Makarov's safehouse, and some are mounted (like M249 SAW's were in the original game) in some multiplayer maps.

Mark 19 Mod 3 Automatic Grenade Launcher

A lone Mark 19 Mod 3 automatic grenade launcher is seen on the ground next to a Humvee under repair in the "S.S.D.D." level, but is not usable in-game.

M2 Browning Machine gun

Seen mounted on a Brazilian Technical truck during the levels where the Brazilian Militia are encountered. It can be used in one instance of killing the former users but is near suicidal to do so. Like on many mounted weapons, it will overheat on continuous fire. (Note the lack of ammo box or bullets [pic to come])
