Developed by Nazi Germany in 1942 it was known as the MP-43,MP-44, as well as the StG-44 as development on the rifle progressed. The rifle is the first "assault rifle" developed which can shoot medium power "intermediate" ammunition, and was the percursor of all the world's major assault rifles, notably the AK-47 and the M-16.
The Sturmgewehr 44 assault rifle appears in the following movies, video games, and anime used by the following actors:

- Battle of the Bulge. This is the rifle that Henry Fonda examined from a captured German patrol while he was checking the personnel in a bunker in the early scenes of the movie.
