Revision as of 00:59, 8 October 2009
The following guns were used in the game The Darkness:
M1911
Jackie Estecado's two main sidearms in the game are M1911s with nickel plating and custom engraving, which are given to him as gifts for his birthday. In mainly all the cutscenes, we see Jackie playing with the guns in various manners. While other guns can be picked up, you will always resort to these last before completley running out of pistol ammo.
Heckler & Koch P9S
Jackie can pick up and dual wield Heckler & Koch P9S pistols in the game.
IMI Desert Eagle Mark VII
Jackie can pick up and dual wield IMI Desert Eagle Mark VII pistols chambered in .44 Magnum. The games dark lighting makes it hard to tell at times but they appear to be chromed. It is also abe to fire more than 8 rounds, somewhere around 10 or 12, maybe more, and the end of the weapon is slanted strangely, and the grip is not quite that of a Desert Eagle, implying that simply the action is based off the desert eagle.
Unknown Revolvers
There are four revolvers in the game, One large black one (possible S&W custom), a large stainless one (possibley a Taurus Model 44), a mid-sized revolver, and a snub nose. All are able to be picked up and used by the player akimbo.
The large revolvers are actually fictional guns based on non-firing models. Both are S&W M29s, called Devil and Satan. The blockier, bulkier one is Devil, the other is Satan. They can actually come in black or silver in the game. see: http://www.dentrinity.com/NelsonChen/Collection/Revolver/Km-29/M29sd.jpg
Brügger & Thomet MP-9
Jackie can pick up and dual wield Brügger & Thomet MP-9 submachine guns with or without suppressors. They inaccurately feature cocking handles on the side of the gun, when it actually has a charging handle on the top like an M16.
Franchi SPAS-12
A Franchi SPAS-12 can be used in the game and fires on automatic only, and is the first weapon Jackie uses, being handed it during the game's introduction upon which he performs what is quite possibly the slowest reload in the history of videogames. It inaccurately holds 10 rounds, when it actually holds 8+1 rounds in real life.
Pancor Jackhammer
Pancor Jackhammer shotguns are used mainly by the SWAT teams and can be used by Jackie. It is inaccurately shown to have a 64 round magazine when it actually holds only ten.
Merged Rifle
When in the Darkness world (a strange version of WWI), all the soldiers use merged rifles that bear resemblance to a Lee-Enfield No. I Mk III* rifles, with the loading action of a Krag-Jørgensen rifle, with some moderate traits of a Mauser Gewehr.
C96 "Broomhandle" Mauser
C96 "Broomhandle" Mauser pistols are used by the German "zombies" in the Darkness world and can be picked up and dual wielded by Jackie.
AK-47
AK-47 assault rifles are used by police and gangsters and can be used by Jackie. Despite being fitted with a 30 round magazine, it only holds 20 rounds.
M4A1 Carbine
M4A1 Carbines are used by SWAT teams and NYPD. Jackie can pick up and use them as well. In the game it is seen fitted with a 20 round magazine but the capacity is 30 rounds.
Minigun
A fictional five barreled Minigun is used by the Gunner Darkling to unleash hell on any desired target.
Browning M1917 Water-Cooled
Mounted on the tank Anthony Estecado drives are dual Browning M1917 Water-Cooled machine guns, which Jackie mans as he drives across the Darkness battlefield. When transporting the shell to the massive gun, Jackie also mans a single M1917 to shoot down planes with.
Guns Removed From Final Cut
The following guns were removed from the original cut of the game but found in screenshots and early demos.
MAC-11
A MAC-11 both with and without a suppressor was originally in the game.
Glock 17C
Another gun seen in early cuts is the Glock 17C, a G17 with compensator cuts in the slide and barrel to reduce recoil. It was apparently going to be the sidearm of the police.
