A Pipe bomb is the games equivalent of a grenade. It has a fuse, but cannot be cooked for some odd reason. It is incredibly effective against basic zombies, which are attracted to it. Tanks however, the one thing that you might need to use it against, runs away from it, and the long fuse doesn't help.

Nice, but where's the trigger?

Left 4 Dead (2008)

The Weapons seen in-Game

Springfield Armory M1911-A1

A Springfield Armory 1911-A1 is the primary handgun of all the players, if a second one is obtained, they can be dual wielded, but the second one does not have a flashlight. Oddly enough, the weapon has a 15-round magazine, but they never run out of total ammunition. They are Zoey's primary weapon in the intro film and the trailers. The guns say Finleyville Armory on the side, as opposed to Springfield Armory, due to copyright laws/licensing.

Composite Shotgun

The Pump Shotgun used in Left 4 Dead is a fictional model that seems to be based off of the Ithaca 37 and the Winchester 1300. Francis uses this weapon in the intro cutscene and during the game.

Uzi

A Full-sized uzi with a 50-round magazine and a flashlight taped to the hand guard is the other First Tier weapon. It is Louis' main weapon in the Intro film, in game, and in the trailers, Zoey and Bill also use it in game.

M16A2

The M16A2 with an (inaccurate) 50-round magazine and a flashlight clipped to the barrel is a Second Tier weapon. It's fully automatic. With thorough examination of it, it is actually an M16A2 upper receiver installed over an M16A1 lower, thus it is auto. It is Bill's main weapon in the Intro cutscene, and both Bill and Louis will pick them up whenever they find them during the game.

Benelli M4 Super 90

Another Second Tier weapon, the Benelli M4 in-game has a 10-round magazine and a flashlight clipped to the barrel right in front of the handguard, Francis will use one whenever he finds it.

Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle

The magazine holds 15 rounds, the stock would also suggest it being a older pre-2005 model. Strangely enough, the Rifle also combine the old, single bladed front sight with John Masen flashhider, and the post-2005 aperture sight. Chances are it's a Ruger Ranch rifle in 5.56x45, also known as Mini-14. Zoey uses it in game.

GE M134 Minigun

An M134 Minigun seen mounted on a monopod in the game, usually at the end of the campaign, set up behind sandbags.

Molotov Cocktails

Exactly what the name says it is, it sets a small portion of the floor on fire for a few seconds, anything that wanders too close will be lit on fire.

Pipe Bombs

A Pipe bomb is the games equivalent of a grenade. It has a fuse, but cannot be cooked for some odd reason. It is incredibly effective against basic zombies, which are attracted to it. Tanks however, the one thing that you might need to use it against, runs away from it, and the long fuse doesn't help.

MP5N/A5

While not usable in game, an MP5 with either a Navy trigger group or an A5 trigger group [It's been awhile since I've seen it clearly], a tri-rail handguard and an Aimpoint red dot scope is seen in the hands of nearly all of the characters on the loading screens and promotional pictures.

If I recall correctly it was an A5 trigger group.

A direct hint to that weapon is that within the game the graphic of some ammo stashes displays an ammo can, a few bullets around, and a slim, curved magazine next to it, which looks identical to the ones used by the MP5 family. There is no weapon in the game that uses than kind of magazine (except the M16 but that is shorter and much more flatter to accomodate 5.56 ammo in comparison to MP5's 9mm)

Probably Valve was using the MP5 as the games' SMG early in development which was changed later into the current Uzi.
