Jet Pilot was filmed in the early 1950's and released in 1957, with production by Howard Hughes and the cooperation of the U.S. Air Force. A Russian YAK trainer enters U.S. air space as the pilot defects to the United States. Air Force Colonel Shannon (John Wayne) is assigned to escort defecting Soviet pilot Lt. Anna Marladovna. As he is escorting her to various aircraft to test he falls in love with her unbeknown to him she is Soviet spy Olga Orlief. Colonel Shannon fakes an escape for the two of them back to Russia so he can turn the tables and spy on the Soviets. Great footage of early cold war aircraft.
