District 9 , abbreviated D-9, is a 2009 science fiction film directed by Neill Blomkamp, released August 13, 2009 internationally and August 14, 2009 in North America. It takes place in Johannesburg, South Africa. District 9 is based on Alive in Joburg, a short film by Neill Blomkamp with Sharlto Copley, Simon Hansen and Shanon Worley. All pictures are from the full length trailer.
Pistols
Beretta 92 series
Beretta 92FS
MNU mercenary leader Koobus Venter (David James) carries a Beretta 92FS as his personal sidearm.
Beretta 92FS Compact
One of the mercenaries holds Christopher prisoner with a Beretta 92FS Compact shortly before the vehicle they are riding in is attacked by the Nigerians.
M1911A1 Pistol
A Nigerian gangster threatens Wikus with a M1911A1 pistol when he goes to see Obesandjo. Not a colt as indicated by the external extractor.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5A4
Some of the MNU mercenaries are armed with Heckler & Koch MP5A4 submachine guns.
Armscor BXP
Mercenary leader Koobus carries a South African Armscor BXP submachine gun fitted with a red-dot sight during the shootout at MNU headquarters.
Shotguns
Remington 870
MNU guard Thomas (Kenneth Nkosi) uses a Remington 870 with a SureFire tactical light during the alien evictions. Another 870 is used by a mercenary during the shootout at MNU headquarters.
Rifles
Vektor CR-21
Multi-National United (MNU) soldiers guarding the District 9 internment camp carry Vektor CR-21 rifles with white stocks and what appear to be Leupold CQ/T optical sights.
Vektor R5
Several MNU mercenaries, including their leader Koobus Venter (David James), are armed with Vektor R5 carbines, the South African version of the Israeli Galil SAR.
R1 rifle (FN FAL)
An R1 rifle, equipped with a shell deflector and wooden furniture, is carried by a sniper aboard one of the helicopters circling District 9.
The folding-stock variant of the R1 was the R2. The R2 is not the Heckler and Koch G3 as some sources say.
Heckler & Koch G36C
Some mercenaries are armed with Heckler & Koch G36C rifles when they are searching for Wikus in District 9.
Kalashnikov Variants
AKM
AKM rifles are commonly seen in District 9, mostly in the hands of the Nigerian gangsters.
AKMS
AKMS rifles are also seen in the hands of Nigerian gangsters, who use them during the shootout with the mercenaries.
Norinco Type 84S rifle
A Type 84S rifle (or a rubber stunt prop) is carried by one of the mercenaries attempting to subdue an alien.
Unknown AK
An Kalashnikov-style rifle of unknown make is used by several mercenaries, with either 5.56 or 5.45mm magazines, a 45 degree gas block and a shortened barrel. The front sight block is close to the gas block much like the Hungarian AMD-65 rifle, but the weapon differs in having a AK-74 style muzzle brake and black polymer furniture.
M4A1
Several of the MNU mercenaries are armed with M4A1 carbines, some of which are fitted with M203 grenade launchers.
MSG90
One mercenary sniper uses a Heckler & Koch MSG90 rifle to shoot at the alien mech.
Mechem NTW-20
A Mechem NTW-20 is used by a mercenary against the alien mech.
Machine Guns
RPK
One Nigerian fires a RPK light machine gun when the gangsters attack the MNU convoy.
M249
One mercenary uses an M249 to shoot at the alien mech.
Vektor SS-77
A Vektor SS-77 machine gun is mounted on a helicopter circling District 9.
GE M134 Minigun
The GE M134 Minigun is used by Nigerian gangsters who have mounted them on a technical, and later by a mercenary in a guard tower.
Other
Unknown drum fed weapon
A rebel which is shot by a mercenary after the rebels catch Wikus fires a very large bore, open drum fed weapon. The weapon has a large square shaped optic mounted on it.
- It's a grenade launcher with an EOTech, pretty sure.-protoAuthor
RPG-7
A RPG-7 launcher is used by Koobus in an attempt to attack the alien transport ship as it takes off.
Flamethrower
Carried by MNU soldiers who burn down an alien hive.
Denel PAW-20
Koobus shoots the Alien Mech in the back with a Denel PAW-20
Alien Weapons
"Arc Gun"
Wikus Van De Merwe (Sharlto Copely) and Christopher Johnson both use these alien weapons during the shootout at MNU headquarters. When hit the weapon's energy beam will insta-gib a human.
Still unnamed alien firearm
- I'm sure they had a name for this one. I'll find out soon.
