French-made revolver, seen in the following movies:
Characteristics
A solid-frame,swing out cylinder, double action revolver. The barrel is cold-hammered, which is unusual for a revolver, and makes for a very strong and high quality weapon. It also makes for a more expensive weapon. There is the usual flat mainspring operating the hammer, but there is a seperate flatspring controlling the trigger. This second spring operates on a roller to decrease friction, moves the trigger forward after firing, and moves up the safety block to prevent the hammer's nose from inadvertantly setting off a round. The end result is a very smooth and constant trigger which aids the shooter tremendously. The MR-73 is also capable of shooting 9mm Parabellum by exchanging cylinders. The MR-73 is a high quality and expensive revolver. They are fairly scarce in the United States.
Film
- The Outsider ("Le Marginal"), used by Jean-Paul Belmondo
- MR 73, used by Daniel Auteuil
- Maximum Risk, used by many Police Officers during the final assault
