R-Point is a 2004 South Korean war horror film directed by Kong Su-chang. The storyline is set in 1972 during the Vietnam War, and follows a squad of South Korean soldiers who are sent to investigate a missing platoon.
The following weapons were used in the film R-Point:
Handguns
Colt M1911A1
First Lieutenant Choi Tae-in (Kam Woo-sung) is the only squad member who uses a Colt M1911A1.
Assault Rifles
Colt M16A1
In some scenes, few ROKA squad members are seen carrying standard M16A1s. The US Army squad members carry M16A1s as well.
Colt M16A2
Lieutenant Choi Tae-in (Kam Woo-sung) is seen using an M16A2 built on full-auto receiver with an A1 handguard to impersonate the M16A1. The weapon is distinguished as M16A2 by its complicated range adjustable rear sight and the heavy barrel.
Colt M16A4
Sergeant Jin Chang-rok (Son Byung-ho) and few other ROKA squad members are seen using an M16A4. Same as the M16A2 above, the A4 in the film is built on full-auto receiver and fitted with an A1 handguard. The weapon is distinguished by its removable carry handle.
Norinco Type 56-1
In the scene where the ROKA squad are engaged by the Viet Cong ambush nest, the North Vietnamese soldiers are seen using Norinco Type 56-1s.
Machine Guns
M60
Corporal Lee Jae-pil (Jeong Kyeong-ho) carries an M60 as the ROKA squad machine-gunner.
Launchers
M72 LAW
Corporal Joh Byung-hoon (Kim Byeong-cheol) is the only squad member who carries an M72 LAW. Lieutenant Choi Tae-in (Kam Woo-sung) later uses the M72 to destroy a Viet Cong nest.
Grenades
M26 Fragmentation Grenade
All ROKA squad members are seen carrying M26 hand grenades.
M83 Smoke Grenade
Sergeant Jin Chang-rok (Son Byung-ho) is seen carrying an M83 smoke grenade. Corporal Byun (Mun Yeong-dong) also has a few M83s strapped on his AN/PRC-77 radio.
