Kinji Fukasaku (深作 欣二, Fukasaku Kinji, 1930-2003) was a Japanese filmmaker, known for his wide range of films such as the Battles Without Honor and Humanity series and Battle Royale. Fukasaku passed away in 2003 while producing the sequel to Battle Royale. The movie would be completed by his son, Kenta.
