The Mission (Chinese title:鎗火 / Cheung Fo) is a 1999 Hong Kong crime film directed by Johnnie To about a group of five very different men who work as hired killers part time, and are brought together to protect a triad crime boss from an assassination conspiracy. Through several action set pieces, the men prove to be a great team, and begin to bond as a united group, but the five of them must point their guns at each other when it is revealed that one of them is having an affair with the wife of the crime boss they were hired to protect. The film stars Anthony Wong, Lam Suet, Simon Yam, and Francis Ng, and To won best director for the film at both the 37th Golden Horse Awards and the 19th Hong Kong Film Awards.
The following weapons were used in The Mission:
Warning: Multiple spoilers Ahead!
Handguns
Taurus PT99
Near the start of the film, James (Lam Suet) gives the group a number of pistols to use on their "mission." Curtis (Anthony Wong) chooses a Taurus PT99 as his main sidearm, which he continues to use throughout the film.
Beretta Cougar Inox
Curtis's Taurus PT99 turns into a Beretta Cougar Inox (likely a non-firing model) when he protects Boss Lung during an assassination attempt.
Beretta 92FS
James (Lam Suet) uses a Beretta 92FS as his main weapon for most of the film. In the continuity error during the mall shootout, Roy's Browning Hi-Power changes to a Beretta near the end. Also carried by some of the hired guns who try to kill Boss Lung.
Taurus PT92
Due to continuity errors, James's Beretta turns into a Taurus PT92 during some of the shootout scenes.
Browning Hi-Power
Roy (Francis Ng) selects a Browning Hi-Power as his sidearm of choice. In a continuity error, the Hi-Power appears as Shin's gun near the end of the mall shootout instead of his Glock 17.
Glock 17
Shin (Jackie Lui) uses a Glock 17 as his sidearm.
M1911A1 Pistol
Mike (Roy Cheung) uses an M1911A1 pistol as his sidearm. In the film it appears that he is the best out of the group at handling pistols, proving so during the mall shootout and even engaging a sniper with his 1911A1 early in the film. He is also particular with his pistol, telling James to add two more pounds to the recoil spring when he is first given the gun. Mike later attaches a red dot sight and a compensator to his M1911A1 when confronting the hitmen at the warehouse.
Rifles
SKS
A SKS rifle with a Choate stock, a SVD Dragunov-style flash hider, and a bipod is used by an assassin (Keiji Sato) during an assassination attempt and later during a shootout with the bodyguards. While the SKS is semi-automatic, the assassin is seen cycling the rifle's bolt after each shot.
