The Ruger LCP (Lightweight Compact Pistol) is a subcompact .380 pistol that was unveiled by Ruger at the 2008 SHOT Show (and released in the summer of that same year), marking the company's first entry into the subcompact defensive handgun market. It has a 6+1 capacity and weighs less than 10 ounces.
The LCP's styling would be used in the 2011 locked-breech 9x19mm LC9, and its 2014 striker-fired variant, the LC9s. Both are near-identical externally (outside of scale - the 9x19mm variants are, naturally, slightly larger), making it difficult to tell them apart.
