Mississippi Mermaid (La sirène du Mississipi) is a 1969 French romantic drama directed by François Truffaut and starring Catherine Deneuve and Jean-Paul Belmondo. The film is adapted from the 1947 novel "Waltz into Darkness" by Cornell Woolrich. Louis Mahé (Belmondo), a tobacco planter at Réunion Island, marries Julie Roussel (Deneuve) which he had previously known only by correspondence. After some time, she flees with Louis' money. Louis finds out that the woman was an impostor, and the real Julie was murdered during the voyage to Reunion. Louis tries to find the woman, planning to kill her in avenge.

Louis Mahé (Jean-Paul Belmondo) purchases a Beretta M1934 or M1935 in the gun store in Antibes and uses the gun in several scenes.
The Gun Store
A number of handguns is seen in the gun store, including Smith & Wesson 41, Walther PPK, two Smith & Wesson Model 36, and abovementioned Beretta M1934.
A number of Double Barreled Shotguns is seen in the gun store.
Charleville Musket
In the opening scene a footage from 1938 film La Marseillaise is used. The episode depicts the French National Guard storming the Tuileries Palace in August 1792. Numerous muskets, probably Charleville models, are seen in hands of the National Guardsmen.
