Operation Red Sea (Chinese: 红海行动; pinyin: Hóng Hǎi Xíng Dòng) is a 2018 Chinese/Hong Kong action war film directed by Dante Lam, and is the thematic sequel to Operation Mekong (2016). The film is loosely based on the March 2015 evacuation of Chinese nationals from the port of Aden during the Yemeni Civil War. The film is set in the fictional Middle Eastern country of Yewaire, where the People's Liberation Army Navy special forces unit Jiaolong assault team is tasked to evacuate Chinese nationals from this country following the outbreak of a civil war in the country. The movie is filmed in Morocco. The Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie provided several M60A3 main battle tanks, T-72 main battle tanks, SA-330 helicopters, UH-1 helicopters, C-130 cargo planes and numerous soldiers.

The M16A1 with A2 handguard is seen in the hands of loyalist soldiers, rebels, and Zaka terrorists. Two of M16A1s with the original triangular handguards are used by a loyalist soldier and a rebel.
Colt M16A4
The M16A4 is used by loyalist soldiers and some elite Zaka terrorists.
SIG SG 551
Li Dong (Yin Fang) carries a SIG SG 551 fitted with a silencer, railed handguard, and either a scope or a holographic sight.
AK-47
The AK-47 is used by Somali pirates and some Zaka terrorists.
Norinco Type 56
AKS-74U
AKS-74U assault rifles are used by various characters.
Norinco Type 56-1
The Norinco Type 56-1 is used by Jiaolong assault team leader Yang Rui (Zhang Yi) and deputy team leader Xu Hong (Du Jiang). Yang Rui's rifle is customized with a Trijicon T-1 red dot sight, Magpul stock, railed handguard, jungle-taped magazines, and a silencer. And Xu Hong's rifle is customized with a Trijicon T-1 red dot sight, LMT stock, railed handguard, jungle-taped magazines, and a silencer.
Steyr AUG A1
The Steyr AUG A1 is used by Zaka terrorists and Lu Chen (Guo Jiahao).
FN SCAR-L CQC
The FN SCAR-L CQC is the main weapon of the Jiaolong assault team. All of the rifles are fitted with holographic sights and silencers.
CZ 805 BREN
The CZ 805 BREN is used by Xu Hong (Du Jiang) and Gu Shun (Huang Jingyu).
SIG SG 540
Zaka terrorists also use railed SIG SG 540 rifles.
At the beginning of the film, some of the Jiaolong assault team members use Norinco QBZ-97 rifles. Some PLA Navy soldiers also use these rifles in Yewaire.
Norinco QBZ-95
Some of the People's Armed Police gendarmerie personnel escorting the ambassadors are armed with Norinco QBZ-95 rifles.
Czech Small Arms Sa vz. 58 Compact
Xu Hong (Du Jiang) uses a CSA Sa vz. 58 Compact to take out some Zaka terrorists during the climax.

TDI Vector
TDI Vector submachine guns are used by two security contractors.
FN P90
At least one of the Jiaolong assault team members uses an FN P90.
The Jianshe 9mm is used by Jiaolong assault team members at the beginning of the film.
Battle Rifles
Heckler & Koch G3A4
The Heckler & Koch G3A4 is used by elite Zaka terrorists and Jiaolong member Zhang Tiande (Wang Yutian). After Zhang Tiande is downed, Gu Shun uses Zhang's G3A4 as a sniper rifle.
FN SCAR-H CQC
The FN SCAR-H CQC is used by Lu Chen, the medic of the Jiaolong assault team.
Some Jiaolong assault team members mount under-barreled Mk 13 Mod 0 grenade launchers on their FN SCAR-L CQCs.
CZ 805 G1
A Jiaolong assault team member uses a CZ 805 G1 to fire smoke grenades.
RPG-7
RPG-7 rocket launchers are used by various characters.
Fake FIM-92 Stinger
Tong Li (Jiang Luxia) grabs a mocked-up FIM-92 Stinger from a crate in the C-130 cargo plane and uses it to shoot down a rebel SA-330 helicopter. This prop seems to be referenced from multiple different launchers.
