Walking Tall is a 1973 action drama directed by Phil Karlson and stars Joe Don Baker as Buford Pusser, a former US Marine and professional wrestler who returned to his hometown in Tennessee only to find that it has been corrupted by gambling and prostitution. Angered by the authorities' nonaction, Pusser decides to run for sheriff and upon his win, proceeds to clean the town up, usually with an array of wooden clubs. Inspired by a true story, the film met box office success, leading to two direct sequels: Walking Tall Part 2 (1975) and Walking Tall: Final Chapter (1977), both starring Bo Svenson as Pusser. A feature film remake starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was released in 2004 and also was followed by two DTV sequels: Walking Tall: The Payback and Walking Tall: Lone Justice, both of which starred Kevin Sorbo and were released in 2007.
The following weapons were used in the film Walking Tall:
Handguns
Smith & Wesson Model 10
Most sheriff deputies, including Grady Coker (Bruce Glover) and Obra Eaker (Felton Perry), carry Smith & Wesson Model 10 revolvers.
Colt Trooper Mk III
A Colt Trooper Mk III is Sheriff Buford Pusser's (Joe Don Baker) personal handgun.
Smith & Wesson Model 15
In one scene Sheriff Buford Pusser holds a Smith & Wesson Model 15 instead of his usual Colt Trooper.
Smith & Wesson N-frame revolver
Sheriff Al Thurman (Gene Evans) carries what appears to be a S&W N-frame sized revolver (likely a Model 27/28). The revolver features ivory grips. It is only seen holstered.
Smith & Wesson Model 36
In one scene Callie Hacker (Rosemary Murphy) holds a snub-nose revolver. Possibly a Smith & Wesson Model 36. It is seen very briefly.
Star Model B
In one scene two assassins fire a pair of pistols at Buford Pusser. Due to darkness, lit only by muzzle flashes, one of the pistols is seen only marginally. The other one is a Star Model B, identified by the external extractor.
Submachine Guns
Smith & Wesson 76
During the attack on Buford Pusser's car on the road, the attackers use Smith & Wesson 76 SMGs.
Shotguns
Ithaca 37
An Ithaca 37 is seen in the office in "The Lucky Spot". An Ithaca 37 is also seen in hands of a deputy.
Remington Model 870
In one scene a hitman uses a Remington Model 870 with 28" barrel.
Later, Buford's nine-year-old son Mike (Leif Garrett) sits guard at the bed of his wounded father with a shotgun that also appears to be a Remington 870 but in a smaller chambering (the gun is Buford's Christmas gift to Mike).
Double Barreled Shotgun
Buford Pusser (Joe Don Baker) uses a double barreled shotgun for skeet shooting.
Sawed-Off Double Barrel Shotgun
Callie Hacker (Rosemary Murphy) uses a Sawed-Off Double Barrel Shotgun.
Rifles
Winchester Model 70
A pair of Winchester Model 70 rifles is seen in Pusser's house.
Assault Rifles
M16/SP1
In the final scene Buel Jaggers (Arch Johnson) holds some version of M16, most likely an M16/SP1.
