The Young Victoria is a 2009 British historical and romance film starring Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend. The film depicts the events leading up to and during Queen Victoria's coronation celebrations and her early reign and romance with Prince Albert in the 1830s. It was produced by Martin Scorsese, Graham King, Sarah Ferguson, and Tim Headington. When Victoria becomes Queen of England at the age of 18, she assumes responsibility for government amid major political conflicts. The fun-loving young woman must quickly learn to assert herself in her new role. During this time, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg arrives in London. He is supposed to win the young queen's heart to strengthen his family's influence on the English royal family.
