The '''PPSh-2''' submachine gun was developed by Georgiy Shpagin in early 1942 under the requirements for a new submachine gun which should be lighter and more compact than the [[PPSh-41]]. The PPSh-2 submachine gun was developed by Georgiy Shpagin in early 1942 under the requirements for a new submachine gun which should be lighter and more compact than the PPSh-41. During the trials, the PPSh-2 lost to the Sudaev PPS-42. No more than 200-250 guns were produced for field trials.
