PPD-44 (to some extent a conventional name) was developed by gunsmith Vasiliy Dolganov for partisan forces operating in Belarus. It was a simple, but combat-ready weapon, in the spirit of the Sten. The design made possibility to the use of elements of broken weapons, as well as scrap metal. It was produced, probably, in double-digit quantities.
