Around the World in 80 Days is a 2021 German-Italian-French television series based on Jules Verne's novel of the same name. The series is produced as a joint project of the European Alliance by the public broadcasters Rai, France Télévisions, and ZDF. In 1872, when a newspaper article claims that one can circumnavigate the globe in 80 days, the London eccentric Phileas Fogg bets his friend Bellamy at the Reform Club for 20,000 pounds that he will be able to do just that. He calculates the day of his return to London to be Christmas Eve. He sets off with his new servant Passepartout, a dark-skinned Frenchman, joined by budding journalist Abigail. Abigail documents events during their journey together for a colomne.
The following weapons were used in the miniseries Around the World in 80 Days:
Sheik Medjuel El Mezjuel Mezrab (Faical Elkihel) hands over a Smith & Wesson Model 3 to Passepartout (Ibrahim Koma) in Ep. 03 to defend himself from ambushes in the dessert.
Unknown Revolvers
An unknown revolver is seen in Ep. 04 in Lieutenant Bathurst's (Charlie Hamblett) holster. At the end of Ep. 05, Thomas Kneedling (Anthony Flanagan) is seen with another revolver while threatening Phileas Fogg.
Colt Single Action Army
A Colt Single Action Army is wielded by Bass Reeves (Gary Beadle) in Ep. 07 that is referred as "Single Action Colt" by Abigail Fix (Leonie Benesch) which he confirms and calls it a "Peacemaker". Ambrose Abernathy (John Light) is also seen with an SAA. The SAA was only produced one year later.
Colt 1849 Pocket
Bass gives Abigail a Colt 1849 Pocket revolver which he took from Ambrose. It is called a ".22 Colt Pocket Revolver".
In Ep. 01 Gérard (Loic Djani) uses a Gras Model 1874 standing in for an accurate Chassepot 1866 rifle in an attempt to assasinate President Adolphe Thiers (Alain Guillo).
Lebel Mle. 1886
Another out of time rifle but of French origin is the Lebel 1886 which is used by the French Gendarmerie. This is most likely because not so many Gras rifles were available.
As the trio travels through India in Ep. 04, a garrison of British-Indian troops can be seen with Martini-Henry Rifles. The use of these rifles in November 1872 seems correct, since the Mk. I was introduced one year earlier but the soldiers also appear to be armed with the improved Mk. II and III variants. British soldiers in Hong Kong in Ep. 06 are also armed with Martini-Henrys.
