1883 is a Paramount+ original streaming series that is a prequel to the Paramount Network series Yellowstone. The series follows an earlier generation of the Dutton family as they make the dangerous trek from Fort Worth, Texas to Montana and what will eventually become the Dutton family ranch. Like Yellowstone, 1883 was co-created by Taylor Sheridan, the director/screenwriter responsible for such screenplays as Sicario, Hell or High Water and Those Who Wish Me Dead, and who also wrote and directed several episodes of the series.
