Alexander Godunov (1949-1995) was a famous Soviet ballet dancer whose defection to the US caused a bit of a diplomatic row between the United States and the Soviet Union. Having already appeared in several Soviet films, he continued a career as an actor in Western cinema, having memorable roles in such films as Witness and Die Hard. He passed away in 1995 due to complications from hepatitis.
