The OSSh-42 (Osvetitelniy Signalniy Shpagina, "Illumination and Signal designed by Shpagin") is a Soviet flare pistol designed by Georgiy Semyonovich Shpagin (best known for his PPSh-41 submachine gun). It entered service in 1943 but very soon was replaced by an improved version SPSh-44.
