A Better Tomorrow III is a 1989 prequel to A Better Tomorrow. The film follows the experiences of Mark Lee (Chow Yun-Fat) during the time of the Vietnam War. Unlike the first two films, the third installment was not directed by John Woo, but by Tsui Hark (who produced the first two films). The film also goes by the subtitle "Love & Death in Saigon".

The Colt M1911A1 is used by nearly all of the main characters including Mark Lee (Chow Yun-Fat), Chow Ying-Kit (Anita Mui), Cheung Chi-Mun (Tony Leung Ka Fai), Ho Cheung-Ching/Tanaka (Saburo Tokito), and Pat (Kien Shih). Triad gangsters and ARVN soldiers also use this handgun.
Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket
Chow Ying-Kit is seen pulling a Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket on Mark Lee during the hotel scene.
Tokarev TT-33
Chow Ying-Kit grabs a Tokarev TT-33 from one of Việt Cộng fighters and uses it during the shootout in a temple.
Smith & Wesson Model 10
A Smith & Wesson Model 10 is carried by one of ARVN officers during the riot at Bến Thành Market.
Smith & Wesson Model 60
A Smith & Wesson Model 60 is used by Ho Cheung-Ching. He takes it from his ankle holster.

Browning M1919A4
A Browning M1919A4 is used by Cheung Chi-Mun (Tony Leung Ka Fai) from a sandbagged position.
FN MAG-58 (mocked up as an M60)
Cheung Chi-Mun is seen holding an FN MAG-58 mocked up to resemble the M60 before taking up the Browning M1919A4. A similar mockup was used in Superman II.
M72 LAW
The M72 LAW is used by several ARVN soldiers.
M29 Mortar
The M29 Mortar is seen in a sandbagged position.
Mortar Shells
Near the end of the film, Mark Lee uses a crate of mortar shells to destroy the M48 Patton tank.
Mk 2 Hand Grenade
Mk 2 hand grenades are carried by ARVN soldiers.
