Ip Man is a 2008 Hong Kong martial arts film starring Donnie Yen as the title character, the martial artist who eventually becomes the master of Bruce Lee. The film revolves around Ip Man's time in Foshan during the Japanese occupation of China. Ip Man is only an indirect biography and takes a lot of creative licenses in portraying the events around his time there. Donnie Yen would return in the 2010 sequel Ip Man 2 and Ip Man 3, the third film in the series, was released in 2015.
The following weapons were used in the film Ip Man:
Tranter 1879
Li Zhao's (Gordon Lam Ka-tung) weapon during his time as a police officer appears to be a Tranter 1879. If one goes by the scene of Ip Man (Donnie Yen) knocking the cylinder out of the weapon frame by frame, one can see that it is connected to a wire, which was used to quickly pull it out of the revolver.
Nambu Type 14
The sidearm of the Japanese Colonel Sato (Shibuya Tenma) is a Nambu Type 14 pistol. It is used twice throughout the film. First to shoot a fighter after an arena match, the second time during the climax. Note that the gun in the film has a fully-rounded trigger guard unlike the one in the image below. In several scenes, a rubber prop was used in place of the real Nambu Type 14.
Arisaka Type 38
The primary weapon of all Japanese soldiers is the Arisaka Type 38 rifle.
