The director and writer of the film, Julia Hart, stated in interview that "I'm Your Woman" is a counterpart to the 1981 [[Michael Mann]] crime movie ''[[Thief]]''. In that movie [[James Cann]] hustles off [[Tuesday Weld]] and their adopted baby when he has to deal with his enemies. She is never seen again. "I'm Your Woman" follows the wife after she is rushed away.
