1917 is a 2019 World War I movie directed by Sam Mendes (Skyfall). With World War I at its peak, Blake and Schofield, two young British soldiers, are ordered to travel deep through hostile land to deliver an important message. But it's a race against time because this message has to be delivered fast enough to prevent an attack that would mean certain death for hundreds of soldiers. The cast also includes Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Benedict Cumberbatch.
The following weapons were used in the film 1917:
Handguns
Webley MK VI
British officers are armed with Webley Mk VI revolvers which are mainly seen holstered including by General Erinmore (Colin Firth), Lieutenant Leslie (Andrew Scott), Captain Smith (Mark Strong), Colonel MacKenzie (Benedict Cumberbatch), Major Hepburn (Adrian Scarborough) and Lieutenant Blake (Richard Madden). Nevertheless, some officers can be seen with revolvers drawn at the end.
Rifles
Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III
British soldiers including Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman) and Schofield (George MacKay) can be seen with Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III rifles with various attachments. The attention to detail and setting of the film extends to correctly portraying both the SMLE's magazine capacity of ten rounds, as well as ensuring the rifles are properly rechambered between shots. One exceptional example of this is after Schofield fires his SMLE and doesn't rechamber it in one scene, several scenes and tens of minutes later he cycles the bolt before firing at the start of the next engagement.
Mauser Gewehr 1898
German soldiers can be seen carrying Mauser Gewehr 1898 rifles. Notably, seen firing from the hip in the ruins of Écoust-Saint-Mein.
Machine Guns
Lewis Gun
Several Lewis Guns can be seen transported by British soldiers through the trenches. Most of them are equipped with dust covers on the muzzles.
Maxim LMG 08/15
A pair of LMG 08/15 Air machine guns are mounted on the Albatros D.III biplane of the German pilot (Robert Maaser).
Hand Grenades
Mills Bomb
Before the journey, Blake and Schofield get some Mills Bombs.
Other
Webley & Scott No. 1 Mk. III*
A Webley & Scott No. 1 Mk. III* signal pistol is handed over by Private Kilgour (Spike Leighton) and Lieutenant Leslie (Andrew Scott) to Blake before going into No Man's Land.
Mark II Tank
Unknown Howitzer
An unknown howitzer/siege gun can be seen in the abandoned artillery base, that could be some sort of a Ringkanone or either a captured French 155mm Conan model 1877.
15 cm Kanone 16
Disabled 15 cm Kanone 16 howitzers are also stationed in the base. It's nice to see a German howitzer other than the 21cm mortar 16.
