Mask of Death is a 1996 American-Canadian action movie directed by David Mitchell and starring Lorenzo Lamas as a criminal Lyle Mason and a Seattle PD Det. Dan McKenna. In the opening scene McKenna's wife is killed by Mason's companion Frank Dalilo (Conrad Dunn) while McKenna himself is shot in face by Mason but survives. Mason perishes in a auto crash while Dalilo manages to escape, not knowing about the fate of his companion. FBI Agent Jeffries (Billy Dee Williams) finds out that McKenna has a similarity in face with Mason and suggests McKenna to undergo a plastic surgery in order to get Mason's face, infiltrate in crime ring and find Dalilo who possesses a stolen top secret military chip.
Note: the movie was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, which affected the choice of screen guns.
The following weapons were used in the film Mask of Death:
In the opening scene Det. Dan McKenna (Lorenzo Lamas) is armed with a Taurus Model 689 revolver. When he is forced to put down the gun, Frank Dalilo (Conrad Dunn) takes it.
A Smith & Wesson Model 36 is Det. Cassandra Turner's (Rae Dawn Chong) sidearm. In one scene Dalilo's henchman, who breaks into Cassandra's apartments, seizes her revolver.
Dan McKenna (posing as Lyle Mason) secretly kills Dalilo's henchman Benny (Garvin Cross) and takes his pistol that appears to be some S&W model, single stack with stepped trigger guard and fixed sights. It looks mostly like a Smith & Wesson 3913 except for a stepped trigger guard.
Due to continuty error McKenna's pistol switches to Smith & Wesson 3913NL which can be distinguished due to the different shape of the trigger guard and the lack of ambidextrous safety.
During the shootout with street thugs Dan McKenna (posing as Lyle Mason) uses a sawed-off pump action shotgun. It bears resemblance with a Mossberg 500 but still looks different.
