Homeland is a television drama/thriller that stars Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison, a CIA officer suffering from bipolar disorder, who in the series' first 3 seasons, is convinced that Sgt. Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), a recently released US Marine who was captured by Al Qaeda near the beginning of the Iraq War, has in fact become a sleeper agent for the terrorist organization. The series, which was loosely adapted from the Israeli television series Hatufim, premiered on Showtime in the US in 2011 and aired for 8 seasons until 2020 and was produced by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, who were previously both involved with the series 24.
