The Woman in Green is an American 1945 detective movie, directed by Roy William Neill and starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson. This is the eleventh installment to the series of fourteen Sherlock Holmes films starring Rathbone and Bruce. The generally original plot includes elements from Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Final Problem" and "The Adventure of the Empty House". Holmes' archnemesis Professor Moriarty reappears in London. This time he works with Lydia Marlowe who uses hypnosis to make wealthy and single men believe they have committed brutal murdres, with following blackmail. Moriarty also tries to kill Holmes, sending a hypnotized sniper to shoot the detective from an empty house across Baker Street (the storyline from "The Adventure of the Empty House").

Note: while the inclusion of this film is questionable in the strict sense of the "Single Firearm Rule", it should be listed for completeness of the series of Rathbone-Bruce movies.

The following weapons were used in the film The Woman in Green:

Mauser Sporter Rifle

Hypnotized sniper Williams (Coulter Irwin), a retired Corporal of the Middlesex Regiment, uses a bolt action rifle that appears to be a kind of Mauser Sporter. When Williams is arrested, his rifle is seen in hands of Sherlock Holmes. The scene is very dark that hampers the identification of the gun.
