The Walking Dead is the television post-apocalyptic horror series adaptation of the Image graphic novel series co-created by Robert Kirkman. The television series follows a group of survivors led by former Sheriff's Deputy Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) as they struggle to stay alive after a pandemic has nearly wiped out the human race and has caused the deceased to be resurrected as flesh-eating "walkers". The Walking Dead premiered on AMC in the US in 2010 and was adapted for television by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption). Fear the Walking Dead, a companion series, premiered in the US on AMC in August of 2015.
