The Southern Star is a 1969 French-British adventure comedy movie directed by Sidney Hayers on based the novel by Jules Verne called L'étoile du sud. French West Africa, 1912. Dan Rockland (George Segal) allowed to employ as a geologist in the mining company of Mr. Kramer (Harry Andrews). He received in charge of guarding the Southern Star - a diamond of extraordinary value. During the party, suddenly the lights go out, and when comes back, the diamond is gone. Suspected of stealing falls on Matakit (Johnny Sekka), the black assistent of Dan Rockland, who fled into the jungle. In his heels are Capt. Karl Ludwig (Ian Hendry), security chief of the diamond company, and his men. Therefore Dan, to save him, together with Kramer' daughter Erica (Ursula Andress) goes towards a dangerous adventure. They are not alone, who went in search this treasure, about this has an interest also Plankett (Orson Welles).
