Love Me Tender was a 1956 Post-Civil War drama that marked the feature film acting debut of Elvis Presley. In the film, Presley stars as a young man who finds himself at odds with his new wife and the Civil War veteran brother whom he thought had been killed in the war. The film's cast also included Richard Egan and Neville Brand.
The following firearms were used in the film Love Me Tender:
Remington New Army (mocked up Single Action Army)
The revolvers seen in the film appear to be Colt Single Action Army revolvers with a mock cylinder rod to resemble the Civil War era Remington New Army handgun. Similar mockups appear to have been used in several Westerns including The Horse Soldiers and Rio Lobo. Several characters are seen using the revolver including Clint Reno (Elvis Presley), Vance Reno (Richard Egan) and Mike Gavin (Neville Brand).
Springfield 1873 "Trapdoor" Carbine
Several Confederate soldiers are armed with the Springfield 1873 "Trapdoor" Carbine before the robbery of the Union payroll.
Springfield Model 1861
Springfield 1861 muzzle-loading rifles is the main battle rifle used by Union soldiers in the film.
